12-6 Christmas in FL

Christmas in Florida ~ needless to say, a little different than up north.  Santa’s area at the mall included a manatee with a boat (instead of reindeer and a sleigh) and palm trees instead of pine trees.  This photo was taken at Edison Mall in Ft. Myers.

12-5 Charity event 12-5

Parrot Key held a charity event tonight with a silent auction and raffles to benefit the Spirit of Christmas Foundation of Southwest Florida.  It was a little chilly, so the outside patio was enclosed and they had the heaters going, but they had a good crowd and hopefully raised a lot of money for a good cause.

Tree shopping - 8

One of the things I miss about living so far away from the kids is the annual hunt for a Christmas tree.  I wasn’t there to take this photo, but I decided to post it anyway.  Let’s just say I was there in spirit. 🙂

HalloweenWknd (35)

Monroe KOA was full of Halloween decor this weekend ~ this was a campsite just across the road.  Some of the campers go all out ~ we counted at least 5 walk-through “haunted houses” while the kids trick-or-treated around the campground.

K_HalloweenWknd (36)

This has to be the wierdest photo of Halloween weekend.  My sweet little granddaughter looking totally eerie in her Halloween creepy-ness.  She was dressed as Samara Morgan from “The Ring”.  Never saw the movie ~ don’t think I want to …

(I know ~ I’m going backwards)

HalloweenWknd (5)

Halloween weekend at Monroe KOA campground ~ our annual family camping trip.  It was rainy and cold when we got into camp this Friday, so I was soooooo thankful we had this extra heater!  It was toasty in the cabin.  🙂

11-6 Lilies

These gorgeous lilies are the remnants of a beautiful bouquet that I received from my friend Beryl after I went in for surgery in October.  They lasted forever!
