9-22 Doll coat

After having this embroidered denim fabric forever, I decided to sew a coat for Maya’s doll as a birthday present ~ hope she likes it 🙂

My take on Florida Etsy Street Team’s challenge for September (theme = Birthday).  I think a cupcake is a perfect birthday icon, so  I added this one to a little Zipster pouch.

Cruise 9-09 (43)

We went to the Key West Art and Historical Museum and caught Seward Johnson’s exhibit called Icons Revisited, sculptures inspired by photos and movies.  “Unconditional Surrender” ~ inspired by the photo taken in Times Square on VJ Day of the sailor kissing an unsuspecting young nurse.  “Forever Marilyn” ~ remember that photo of Marilyn Monroe with her skirt blowing around as she stood on a steam vent.

“Whispering Close” by Seward Johnson.  Here’s the link to a slide show showing how they set it up.  It’s hard to imagine how big it is unless you’re standing right next to it.

Cruise 9-09 (40)

The end of our third day ~ this little bunny (created by Jonathon, our stateroom attendant) greeted us when we came back to the room, along with the Cruise Compass with the next day’s schedule of things to do.

Cruise 9-09 (7)

Taking a peek out our window as we come into Nassau around 8:00 am.  That’s the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island on the right.  Beautiful place ~ that’s the first place we go when we get off the ship in Nassau.

Cruise 9-09 (10)

This is the “front of the ship” webcam in our stateroom ~ this was the view we saw as we were pulling into the dock in Nassau.

Just a couple of pics of Atlantis ~ we really need to stay there one of these days.

Cruise 9-09 (2)

This was our home-away-from-home for the next four days ~ aboard Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas.  We booked a last-minute cruise to the Bahamas ~ which included Nassau, Coco Cay and Key West ~ and got an oceanview room for $129.  I guess that’s the one of the perks of living in Florida ~ we’re close enough to the cruise ports to drive over in a couple of hours.

9-13 Flamingo explosion

Flamingo explosion.  Someone ordered 24 Mini One-Snap Wallets from my Etsy shop for her tennis club ~ this is the finished pile ready to be sent out.  Whew!  This may be part of the reason why I haven’t been posting lately. (I know ~ lame excuse … )
